Inked: What was your first tattoo and do you still have it?
Miss Sarah Jane Gray:
My first tattoo was a flash rose that I picked off the wall in a street shop on a night out when I was only 15 years old. Ironically, I have since had it covered with another rose piece (albeit of much better quality and style!)

Who would you most like to be photographed by? This is a toss-up between Hugo V and Ashlee Savins. Unfortunately on Hugo’s last Australian tour I wasn’t able to shoot with him and I think he has a real eye for shooting tattooed women and uniquely highlighting their body art. I have shot with Ashlee once before and she knows how to make you feel super comfortable behind the camera and that is very important to me when it comes to capturing a great candid image!

Who is the person you most look up to and why? Other that my father, who inspired me to follow in his footsteps to become a doctor, it would be Bianca Moore (Dolce Onyx). She is the current reigning Miss Inked and I’m proud to call her one of my dearest friends. She is a strong, ambitious woman that has worked super hard to rock it in the tattoo model world and I love seeing my friends achieve success that inspires me to push myself further.

What’s your favourite piece of clothing? I’d love to say something sexy and exciting like a piece of lingerie I own, but unfortunately it would be a toss-up between one of my many flannies or outdated band tees. I’m really just a classy bogan at heart, sorry guys!

If you could interview anyone (dead or alive) who would you choose? Tiger Woods. I love a game of golf and I’d like to pick his brain for any pointers that could help to improve my long game (and fix my horrible slice). Also, I think it would be somewhat entertaining to learn how he managed to steer clear of the swinging club that narrowly missed his head when his love of blondes other than his wife got the better of him.

Black & grey or colour? Colour on myself for sure. I am a pasty skinned girl and have learnt to appreciate that my “milky” skin tone suits it much better. Black and grey looks rad on others, but I’m glad I went with full colour from the start.

Which tattooist is on your dream list? I’m a lover of all things horror, so other than my amazingly talented boyfriend Bumer, who specialises in this style, I would also love to have a piece done by Paul Acker to add to the horror collection I am accumulating.

What was the first thing you said when you found out you were top 10? Firstly I read the e-mail, and then re-read it three times to make sure it wasn’t an error before sounding stupid… then I said something highly inappropriate and definitely not print appropriate. I was stoked beyond belief and celebrated with a gin or three.
